The Southern and Coastal Maine Real Estate Newsletter – Volume 5.9 - John Herrigel Mission "You have freedom of choice, but not freedom from choice." Slow sales as we enter the Fall Season here in MaineThe real estate markets feel a bit tentative in Southern Maine as we enter the traditionally strong fall buyers season. Transaction volume was down in all 4 counties for the month of August, a trend that began in July and will most likely continue through September, as post-tax credit hangover and uncertainty about the economy linger. The good news however is that pricing seems to have found traction with year over year pricing up in all regions. Portland Maine posted a whopping 11% increase year over year! The median days on market creeped up in most locales, but current inventory levels dropped helping to further stabilize pricing going forward.
