Sluggish September, Improving October
The housing markets continued to remain quiet in Southern Maine for the month ending September 30th 2010. Transaction volume was significantly down in 3 out of the 4 counties followed whilst median prices rose throughout the entire region. I believe, however, these statistical price increases can be attributed to fewer first time home buyers in the marketplace at lower price points than of real price improvement. Overall prices continue to remain stable. October thus far has seen improved buyer activity compared with September and as housing inventories and interest rates remain low....look for improving conditions throughout the Fall season in Southern Maine.
