Commentary: Charging Forward Through November
For the month ending Nov 2009 transaction volume in Southern Maine was WAY up in all 4 counties followed. York, Cumberland, Sagadahoc and Lincoln saw 55%, 44%, 95% and 79% increases respectively. The southern Maine markets continue to see recovery helped along by the lowest interest rates in 4 decades and the extension/expansion of the housing tax credit. Additionally in November a few individual towns, most notably Portland, saw month over month price appreciation whilst the aggregate county data continues to show flat pricing month over month.
