Freeport Housing Overview
Freeport Maine real estate continues to remain strong throughout the housing downturn. It is one of the only communities that saw price appreciation in 2008 rising a staggering 25%, although this is most likely attributed to some high priced listings selling, but nonetheless a bright spot for mid coastal Maine real estate.
Transaction levels followed the average and were off approximately 20% from a year prior with 80 in 2008 vs 100 in 2007. The median price year over year remained steady at 305K. The days on market continue to creep up in this community as in other communities with a home sitting on the market for 112 days in 2008 vs 105 in 2007.

Birthplace of the State
Freeport is often credited with being the birthplace of the state. In fact, many meetings of Maine leaders took place at Freeport's Jameson Tavern, debating and planning the separation from Massachusetts, which took place in 1820.
A Great Place to Visit, a Great Place to Live!
The Town of Freeport is located along the shores of Casco Bay, approximately two hours north of Boston and only 20 minutes north of Portland, Maine. Well known for its outlet shopping areas, Freeport also possesses a combination of rural, residential, ocean-front and recreational areas. The town is rich in beauty, history, and a population that is strongly committed to its community.
