
Situated on Merrymeeting Bay Bowodoinham can trace its roots to the early 1600's with settlers first appearing on the shores of the Bay as well as on the riverbanks of the Abagadassett and Kennebec Rivers. Driven off by indian's numerous times, Bowdoinham officially became the fourteenth town in the Province of Maine in in 1762. A picturesque community that in present day retains it original charm and architecture with a year round population of approximately 2500, Bowdoinham Maine offers a relaxed pace of life close to all area recreation and still only 45 minutes from Portland and 15 from Brunswick & Bath.

Bowdoinham Shipbuilding
As one of the earliest shipbuilding communities on the Kennebec River the town was an industry leader during the mid 19th centrury. Its first ship was built in 1768 and the last in 1912 before the industry gradually shifted south into larger communities with wider rivers. In total over 250 vessels were built in Bowdoinham.
