The Historical West End of Portland, ME
Jul 15, 2017 in Town Reports

The West End of Portland, located on the western peninsula, is known for its historical architecture. The neighborhood has a number of landmark homes, some of which were once inhabited by influential Mainer’s. The West End is great part of the town to settle down in and raise a family, while also being in close proximity to the Old Port. It is home to the beautiful Western Promenade, a large field area looking over miles of ocean.

The West End housing market offers suburban living condo and homes. With a bit more of a suburban feel compared to the East End or the Old Port, you can find a great condo for just over 250K, and the median rate for all regions of Portland is just around $280K. Renewed interest in Maine’s cities and downtowns have placed pressure on communities to build in unprecedented ways.

You can find some of the best food in the city right on Portland’s peninsula. The peninsula is masked with over 70 different styled restaurants to choose from. Some of the more popular places in the West End are both upscale or simple dining. Little Tap House offers local farm-fresh cuisine, Central Provisions offers more small plates and drinks, and David’s gives off an elegant ambiance, serving decorative seafood dishes.

In 2017 so far, the West End, ME real estate market has seen a 107.69% change in units sold from last year. Properties are selling and developers need to continue building to grow the condo market!
