Along Cape Elizabeth's shore line, Portland Head Light is the oldest lighthouse in Maine, located in Fort Williams Park. This site has a rich history as a defensive post for Portland's harbor stretching until 1962 when Fort Williams officially closed. Since that time Fort Williams Park has been developed by the town of Cape Elizabeth as a recreational area for visitors and residents alike. The park includes an arboretum, and host several events through the year.
